On May 28, 1946, about 10:45 p.m. the

plaintiff, a business invitee, was hurt while descending a stairway in the defendant’s hotel in Boston. The plaintiff’s exceptions are to the exclusion of evidence and to the granting of the defendant’s motion for a directed verdict.

The plaintiff and three other young women had entered the Tremont Street entrance leading to the coffee shop, and were walking down the stairs to the shop.
