I,. INTRODUCTION

Tabitha S.1 alleged that her step-grandfather, Lance H., sexually abused her during five different periods of time, beginning when she was three and continuing through the age of fourteen. After a civil trial, a jury *918found Lance liable for sexual abuse of a minor and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
