OPINION

MIKE WILLSON, Justice.

This appeal involves the meaning and application of certain terms of an excess insurance policy issued by Highlands Insurance Company to its insured, Plantation Pipe Line Company. 1 The trial court granted Highlands’s motion for summary judgment and held that Highlands was not obligated to pay Plantation under the terms of the excess policy that it had issued to Plantation because the underlying insurers had not actually paid the full limits of their policies.
