This suit was brought by IVIary A. Burroughs, as beneficiary of William J. Burroughs, deceased, in the corporation court of’ the city of Alexandria, against the Knights of Columbus, a corporation incorporated under the laws of the state of Connecticut, and doing business in the state of Virginia. The defendant appeared and pleaded non-assumpsit and two special pleas. The plaintiff took issue upon the first plea and filed special replication to the second and third pleas.
