In an action for damages for personal injuries sustained when a porch railing gave way and plaintiff fell to the ground, plaintiff received a jury verdict of $10,000. The trial court granted defendant’s motion for judgment notwithstanding the verdict. On appeal, this court reversed the order. * (Cal.App.) 189 P.2d 859. On hearing, the Supreme Court likewise reversed the order, and directed the trial court to enter judgment for plaintiff in accordance with the verdict. (Devens v.
