The defendant was prosecuted for violating Act 34 of 1902, p. 42, by neglecting to provide for the support of his wife, and pleaded guilty. Instead of imposing a penalty of fine o.r imprisonment, the judge, -availing -himself of the authority given him under the statute, ordered the defendant to pay alimony at the rate of $20 per week.
