The plaintiff, age thirty-nine, was employed by the Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Company on a boring mill. On November 7, 1945, while in the course of his employment he hit a nail on the platform on which he was standing with his foot and fell against the boring machine and then against a near-by drill press. He received medical and hospital attention and on December 17th returned to work. He worked four days and then stayed away until January 7, 1946.
