We granted certiorari to review the decision in National Casualty Co. v. Great Southwest Fire Insurance Co., 821 P.2d 877 (Colo.App.1991). The court of appeals affirmed the summary judgment entered by the district court in favor of Great Southwest Fire Insurance Company (Great Southwest) and Hartford Accident and Indemnity Company (Hartford), concluding that they were not responsible for the defense and settlement of the underlying lawsuit against the City of Craig, Colorado.
