James Hanley brought suit to enforce a mortgage lien upon certain lands in Hillsborough County against D. W. Bullard and wife. The debt secured by the mortgage was twenty-four hundred dollars, evidenced by three promissory notes of eight hundred dollars each, dated September 20, 1917. One note payable one year after date, .one two years after date, and one three years after date. Each note contained a clause in which the maker, D. W.
