The State instituted this action against defendant seeking (i) indemnification for public assistance paid for the support of two children born to defendant and Sadie W. Lewis, and (ii) an order directing defendant to provide continuing support. In response, defendant raised the defenses of collateral estoppel and res judicata as to paternity, counterclaimed for reimbursement of child support paid by him under a prior criminal court order, and moved for blood grouping tests.
