OPINION ON THE STATE’S PETITIONS FOR DISCRETIONARY REVIEW
McCORMICK, Presiding Judge.
A jury convicted appellant, Troy Lee Grimes, of aggravated sexual assault for which he was sentenced to life imprisonment and ordered to pay a $10,000.00 fine. For reasons not important to this opinion, the Amarillo Court of Appeals reversed the conviction “for errors committed in the punishment phase only.”1 Grimes v.
