At issue in this mandamus proceeding is whether the judge of the 172nd Judicial District Court of Jefferson County abused his discretion in disregarding the jury verdict in favor of DuPont 1 and in granting a new trial in favor of Willis Whisnant’s estate and beneficiaries (collectively “Whisnant”) 2 .
