Appeal from Monroe county court. Action by Clark Woodworth against Thomas C. Hodgson and Frank I. Hawley. Judgment was entered on a verdict in favor of plaintiff, and a motion for a new trial was denied, and defendants appeal. For former report, see 9 N. Y. Supp. 750.

William A. Woodworth, in November, 1887, was engaged in the grocery business on the corner of Kent and Platt streets, in the city of Rochester. He had previously resided with his father, Clark Woodworth, in the town of Gates, which adjoins Rochester. The plaintiff, to enable his son to commence business, executed two promissory notes,—one for $500, and the other for $100,—upon which $600 was obtained for the son. After that, the plaintiff signed two letters of credit to grocers in the city of Rochester, by which the son was enabled to purchase goods to the amount of $300, the payment of which…
