Respondent, Anne T. Hainer, sued appellants, American Medical International, Inc. (AMI), East Cooper Community Hospital, Inc. (Hospital), Cindy Woltman, Patricia Condon, and Katherine Sellers, for abuse of process, intentional infliction of emotional distress, civil conspiracy, and defamation. The jury awarded Hainer compensatory damages of $75,000 against all appellants, and punitive damages of $225,000 against the corporate appellants. We reverse.
