This is an appeal from a judgment of the circuit court of Cook county confirming a special assessment on the property of appellant for extending and opening an alley. The city of Chicago adopted an ordinance on November 18, 1889, providing for the improvement in question. On December 27 of the same year it filed in said court a petition, praying for the ascertainment of the just compensation to be made for private property to be taken or damaged for the purpose of such alley; and on November 7,1890, a judgment was entered awarding compensation to each of the owners of property to be thus…
