Reading like the plot of one of John le Carré’s Cold War novels, the Complaint in this case opens with the assassinations of Yevgenyi Scherban, a Ukrainian politician and businessman, and Nadejda Nikitina, his wife. In 1996, both were gunned down on the tarmac of an airport in Donetsk, Ukraine, by contract killers dressed as police officers and a flight technician.
