MEMORANDUM OPINION AND ORDER

ELAINE E. BUCKLO, United States Magistrate Judge.

On July 19, 1989, a United Airlines DC-10 airplane manufactured by McDonnell Douglas Corporation crashed during an emergency landing at Sioux City, Iowa. As a result, 112 of the 296 people aboard the aircraft died. Beginning the day after the crash, many lawsuits have been filed against United, McDonnell Douglas and others. Forty-seven of those cases have been consolidated in the Northern District of Illinois for pretrial purposes by the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 1407.…
