Appellant, Asa D. Stewart, was found guilty of aggravated robbery and first-degree murder in connection with the death of Russell Hinkle at a rest stop outside Blytheville, Arkansas. Stewart was sentenced to consecutive terms of twenty-five years’ imprisonment in the Arkansas Department of Correction for the murder conviction and forty years’ imprisonment for the robbery offense.
