KRAMER, Associate Judge:

Appellant Anthony Brawner was convicted of escape under D.C.Code § 22-2601(a)(1) (2001) for attempting to escape from the District of Columbia Jail. At trial, he argued that the government had not met its burden of demonstrating that he intended to escape when he engaged in unauthorized movement within the jail while wearing contraband civilian clothing. On appeal, he argues that the trial court’s failure to instruct the jury that the government was required to prove his intent to leave the jail warrants reversal.
