EVERETT, Chief Judge:

Appellant was tried by military judge sitting alone as a general court-martial on three specifications of unauthorized absence, in violation of Article 86 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 U.S.C. § 886. Pursuant to his pleas of guilty, he was found guilty and sentenced to a bad-conduct discharge, confinement at hard labor for 8 months, total forfeitures, and reduction to the lowest pay grade.
