INTRODUCTION

This case is presently before the court on a petition for a writ of habeas corpus filed by petitioner James H. Johnson. Petitioner challenges the validity of a New Jersey conviction entered against him on December 9, 1980. Petitioner contends that the speedy trial provisions of the Interstate Agreement on Detainers (“Agreement”), 42 Pa.C.S.A. § 9101, et seq. and N.J.S.A. 2A:159A-1 et seq., were violated and therefore the New Jersey indictments should have been dismissed.
