Defendant is an attorney in the city of Grand Rapids. He was married to Rose, the daughter of plaintiffs, for a number of years prior to 1925, when the real estate boom in Florida attracted many investors. Accompanied by his wife and some cousins of plaintiff Stanley, he went to Florida, where they all made a fair-sized profit in two real estate transactions. The defendant, after his return, was ag-ain attracted by the lure of quick profits in Florida land speculations.
