Iiln this matter, the State of Louisiana through the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), appeals a jury verdict awarding David and James Wade and their wives $621,584.75 as compensation for the expropriation of their land and store. For the following reasons, we af*920firm the jury’s decision in part as amended and reverse in part.
