The original tract of land, of which the premises here in controversy are a part,* was the south fraction of section 29, township 39, north, range 14, east of the third principal meridian, ydiich was conveyed to the canal trustees in 1845 by the State for the purposes of the Illinois and Michigan canal, and by them subdivided into blocks and lots in 1848.
