OPINION
CHRISTEN, Justice.
I. INTRODUCTION
Christina J. appeals from the termination of her parental rights to her son, Gideon, an Indian child. Christina spent much of her own childhood in OCS custody after being removed from her parents' home due to their substance abuse and domestic violence. She developed substance abuse problems as a young teenager and became involved in an abusive relationship with Gideon's father, Damian, shortly after leaving OCS custody at age 18.
