On and prior to October 1, 1900, the appellants were the owners of certain real estate in the city of Tacoma, upon which a building was then standing. Respondent brought this suit against appellants, and alleged, in substance, that appellants are non-residents of said city, and that they are, and for a long time have been, represented in said city by Purdon & Stacy and G-.
