BORDEN, J.
The two issues in this reservation are, first, whether the plaintiffs claim for permanent and significant scarring on her foot and ankle is barred by General Statutes § 31-284 (a), the exclusive remedy *23provision of the Workers’ Compensation Act (act),1 and, second, if so, whether that bar violates article first, § 10, of the constitution of Connecticut.2 We answer the first question in the affirmative and the second question in the negative.
