Barry Farm is a historic public housing property located east of the Anacostia River in Southeast District of Columbia ("D.C."). The property was purchased in 1867 and developed as one of the first communities for African-American homeowners after the Civil War. In 2006, the D.C. Council approved a redevelopment plan to transform Barry Farm from a public housing property into a mixed-income, mixed-use community.
