OPINION AND ORDER REGARDING PLAINTIFFS’ MOTION FOR CLASS ACTION CERTIFICATION

I. INTRODUCTION

Plaintiffs, retired salaried employees of Defendant Fruehauf Trailer Corporation (“Defendant”), commenced this action on June 15,1994, alleging that Defendant violated the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (“ERISA”), 29 U.S.C. § 1001 et seq., by failing to provide post-retirement medical benefits at company expense.1 *590Plaintiffs now seek certification of a class consisting of all those who are participants or beneficiaries of Defendant’s Salaried Retiree Medical Plan…
