OPINION

GRANT, Justice.

Larry McAllister appeals his conviction for possession of a controlled substance in the amount of less than one gram, a state jail felony. 1 A jury found McAllister guilty, and the trial court sentenced him to two years’ confinement and a $2,000 fine.

The record reveals that McAllister was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped because it did not have a front license plate and had an expired inspection sticker.
