S. W. Straus & Co., Inc., a domestic corporation, was organized in 1916. It took over a business established in 1882. The business consisted in the main of underwriting and selling to the public bond issues secured by real estate mortgages. Until 1924 it sold first mortgage bonds. Thereafter it included in its offerings leasehold, collateral trust, second and third mortgage bonds, and debentures wholly unsecured.
