On May 14, 1903, Yernie A. Davis and Sewell W. Davis executed and delivered to E. J. Bartels their promissory note for $300, due six months after date, with interest at two per cent per month, and to secure the payment of said principal and interest at the same time executed and delivered to Bartels a deed, absolute on its face, conveying to him a large number of city lots located in the city of Butte.
