On February 1, 1963, the appellant was found guilty, by a jury, of second degree murder, and on February 15, 1963, he was sentenced to 10 years to life in prison. At that time no appeal was taken from the conviction. On June 8, 1972, the appellant in pro per filed his notice of appeal.
