This is a divorce case.

Keith Allen Jacobs (father) filed a divorce petition in October 1991, alleging an irretrievable breakdown of the marriage and requesting, inter alia, custody of the parties’ six-year-old daughter. Margaret Adel Jacobs (mother) filed a motion to dismiss for lack of jurisdiction. After that motion was denied, she answered and counterclaimed for divorce, requesting the trial court to assume jurisdiction. The trial court granted the mother’s first request for a continuance “in order to give Mrs. Jacobs time to return to the United States with the child,” but…
