Beene was found guilty by a jury of two counts of first degree arson and one count of insurance fraud, arising out of a fire which destroyed Beene’s residence and several vehicles.

In his first enumeration of error, Beene, an indigent, claims the trial court erred by denying his pre-trial motion for funds to purchase the transcript of his prior civil trial involving the same issues.
