ESCHBACH, Senior Circuit Judge.

In this appeal, we consider whether the district court improperly granted summary judgment in favor of the defendants in this pretrial detainee’s civil rights claim. Our jurisdiction is provided by 28 U.S.C. § 1291. We reverse and remand.

Jackie Wilson was a pre-trial detainee assigned to the Cook County Jail. He alleges that he was beaten by Officers James K. Williams and Thomas Cavallone in violation of his right to be free from punishment prior to an adjudication of guilt.
