In this case, the defendant raises four claims of error in his trial in which the jury found him guilty of murder in violation of General Statutes § BSa-Béa.1 He maintains first that the court erred *633in admitting the probable cause hearing testimony of a witness, Victor Reyes, who invoked his privilege against self-incrimination and refused to testify after the state advised him that it might charge him with perjury or false statement if Reyes carried out a claimed recantation of his earlier testimony.
