This is an action for damages brought by respondents, husband and wife, on account of personal injuries sustained by tbe wife as a result of a fall caused, while traveling at night upon a public sidewalk, by stepping into an uncovered irrigation ditch which crossed said sidewalk, and which ditch also belonged to, and was maintained by, the appellant city.
