—Appeal by the defendant from a judgment of the Supreme Court, Queens County (Leach, J.), rendered May 8, 1997;, convicting him of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, upon a jury verdict, and imposing sentence. The appeal brings up for review the denial of the defendant’s motion pursuant to CPL 30.30 to dismiss the indictment on the ground that he was denied his statutory right to a speedy trial.
