1. This is the first proceeding of the kind originating in this court. A few cases have been brought here for review involving contempts against other courts of record ; and in such cases, the law has been carefully considered and conservatively declared. In thus declaring the law this court has always kept in view the rights of the people, as well as the maintenance of lawful judicial authoritj’- for the protection of litigants and the welfare of society.
