In Maryland, it is well established that "[a]n expert may give an opinion based on facts contained in reports, studies, or statements from third parties, if the underlying material is shown to be of the type reasonably relied upon by experts in the field." U.S. Gypsum Co. v. Mayor and City Council of Balt. , 336 Md. 145 , 176, 647 A.2d 405 , 420 (1994) (citations omitted). This Court has stated that "the underlying reports, data, or statements themselves may be admitted into evidence for the purpose of explaining the basis of the expert's opinion."
