The defendants, Edward P. and Anna M. Fagan, appeal from a Superior Court judgment vacating the approval of their definitive subdivision plan by the planning board of Ipswich (board).3 They argue that (1) the plaintiffs were without *485standing; (2) the circumstances of the processing of their subdivision plan entitled them to the benefit of the zoning freeze; and (3) the board properly granted the waivers at issue.
