RULE 5-901 – LEGAL STANDARD Maryland Rule 5-901 provides that “the requirement of authentication or identification as a condition precedent to admissibility is satisfied by evidence sufficient to support a finding that the matter in question is what its proponent claims.” To meet that standard, the proponent must demonstrate a reasonable probability that the evidence is what he claims it to be.
