These are two actions on one benefit certificate issued to Joseph W. Proctor. The certificate was for $2,000, payable $1,000 to the son of the insured (the plaintiff in the first action) and $1,000 to the wife of the insured (the plaintiff in the second action), on condition ('inter alla) that the member was in good standing at the time of his death.
The case was heard by a judge without a jury. There was evidence tending to show the following facts:
