ROVNER, Circuit Judge.

A jury convicted Robert Smith of (1) possessing an unregistered explosive • device, see 26 U.S.C. § 5861(d); (2) constructing a destructive device without paying taxes, see 26 U.S.C. § 5861(f); (3) attempting to use an explosive device to destroy a place of business, see 18 U.S.C. § 844(i); and (4) carrying a pipe bomb while committing a crime of violence, see 18 U.S.C. § 924(c)(1)(A). The district court sentenced him to concurrent 120-month terms of imprisonment on the first three counts and to a- 30-year term on the fourth count to run consecutively to the 120-month…
