In August 1991, a jury found Alexis Shumway guilty of the first degree premeditated murder of her grandmother. Ms. Shumway has taken advantage of her right to pursue appellate review and to collaterally attack *387her conviction in the courts of this state, as well as in federal court. She has most recently filed a petition for writ of habeas corpus in the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington.
