The defendant is a corporation which conducts a large department store in the city of Sacramento.
Near the center of the store is a large aisle or passageway, running southerly from the front entrance to the store, to the elevators in the rear or southern end of the store. This aisle is marked or defined on the west, or what we will call the left-hand side, by a series of counters and showcases, running in a practically straight line from the front to back near the rear of the store.
