This is an appeal by the defendant, The Premier Insurance Company of Massachusetts (Premier), from the Superior Court’s grant of summary judgment for the plaintiff, the Massachusetts Insurers’ Insolvency Fund (Fund).1 We granted Premier’s application for direct appellate review to *319decide whether it is obligated to provide uninsured motor vehicle (UM) benefits in this matter, and we hold that no such obligation exists.
