Appeal from, Cedar Rapids Superior Court. — Hon. J. H. Eothrock, Judge. Action to recover damages for personal injuries received by plaintiff in a collision with a street car upon a street in the city of Cedar Eapids. Trial to a jury. Verdict and judgment for plaintiff, and defendant appeals.—

While attempting to cross a street at the intersection of Third avenue and Second street west in the city of Cedar Eapids in a buggy in which he was riding, plaintiff was struck by a street car being operated on defendant’s line of road, and received the injuries of which *528he complains. The grounds of negligence on which the case was submitted to the jury were: (1) Running the car at a high, unreasonable, and dangerous rate of speed, and (2) failure to ring the gong or to give other signals to warn plaintiff of the approach of the car in time to avoid the collision.
