On October 13, 1987, plaintiff A.Y. McDonald Manufacturing Company brought suit in the circuit court of McLean County pursuant to the Mechanics Liens Act (Act) (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1989, ch. 82, par. 1 et seq.) seeking to foreclose a mechanic’s lien against property owned by defendant State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company (State Farm).
